This guided tour of the structural relics and traces of the almost fifty-year use of Nauener Vorstadt in Potsdam as a secret service area for Soviet military counterintelligence visualizes and gives an understanding of the history and structures of this almost self-sufficient "military town".
The true-to-scale model in the courtyard of the former remand prison shows the secret service city in its spatial and historical context, with its proximity to prominent places such as Cecilienhof country house or the Berlin Wall, showing this was a focal point of the Cold War.
The tour passes the former administrative headquarters of the counterintelligence service, the meeting hall of Soviet military tribunals and the residence of the head of the secret service, among other places. Historical photos, relics of a large memorial complex and Russian-language tree carvings illustrate the everyday life of the secret service staff and soldiers stationed here.
The price is for a guided tour for school groups, 60 minutes, max. 19 persons per guided tour or contemporary witness talk
English or German guide available.
