Itinerary

Kangaroo Island 2 Day Wildlife Adventure Tour (Communal Share Bell Tent Max 4 Share)

Day 1

**Board the Bus and Head to Cape Jervis** Meet your guide during selected Adelaide hotel pick-ups between 6:30–6:45am. Sit back and enjoy commentary along the way as we travel south to Cape Jervis for the 45-minute ferry crossing to Kangaroo Island. **Head Over to Kangaroo Island** Once onboard the ferry, grab a toasted sandwich and coffee from the kiosk (own cost), settle into a window seat or head to the top deck for fresh air and coastal views. Keep an eye out for dolphins as we make our way across to Kangaroo Island. **Arrive at Penneshaw** Arriving into Penneshaw, we board our Kangaroo Island coaster and take a scenic drive through this relaxed seaside town. While we won’t be stopping just yet, you’ll get a look at the coastline, local streets and some great spots to remember for our return visit. **Handy Information:** Kangaroo Island is deceptively large, so we cover plenty of kilometres over the two days. However, the itinerary is designed so you’ll generally spend no more than around 45 minutes on the bus at one time. **Prospect Hill Lookout** Our first major stop is Prospect Hill, the highest point on Kangaroo Island. A short but rewarding climb leads to panoramic views across farmland, bushland and coastline — a great introduction to the scale and beauty of the island. **Cygnet River – Duck Lagoon Koala Walk** Enjoy a peaceful 15-minute walk through Duck Lagoon, a beautiful natural area known for its resident koalas, native birdlife and tranquil surroundings. Keep your eyes in the treetops as we search for some of Kangaroo Island’s most loved wildlife. **Kingscote – Free Time & Coffee Stop** Enjoy some free time in Kingscote, Kangaroo Island’s largest town. Grab a coffee, wander along the foreshore or browse the local shops before we continue our journey. **Handy Information:** Lunch is a chance to enjoy local produce while giving both guests and your guide time to relax. There’s no messy food preparation or clean-up required during our lunch stops. **Kangaroo Island Brewery – Lunch** Relax at this rustic local brewery and enjoy a tasting before sitting down to a generous platter lunch featuring Kangaroo Island produce. **Kangaroo Island Beehive** Discover Kangaroo Island’s famous Ligurian bees — the only pure strain remaining in the world. Taste local honey and learn more about this unique and protected bee population. **Parndana** We make a short stop in the small country town of Parndana. Stretch your legs, grab any essentials and get a feel for the heart of Kangaroo Island’s farming community. **Stokes Bay – Swim, Relax & Explore** One of Kangaroo Island’s most beautiful beaches, Stokes Bay is the perfect place to relax, swim and enjoy the scenery. Follow the path through the rocks to discover the sheltered beach and natural swimming area beyond. Take a dip, unwind on the sand or simply soak up the views. Dolphins are also regularly spotted around the bay, so keep an eye on the water. Afterwards, climb back aboard as we make our way to our overnight accommodation. **Overnight Stay – Camp Groovy** Tonight we settle into Camp Groovy for a relaxed evening surrounded by the Kangaroo Island countryside. **Handy Information:** We love working with local families and businesses and using regional ingredients wherever possible. Tonight’s dinner features fresh, seasonal produce from South Australia and Kangaroo Island. **Dinner** After a big day of exploring, relax at camp while your guide prepares a BBQ dinner featuring locally sourced meats, fresh salads and crusty bread, with vegetarian options available. Dinner is also a chance to get to know your fellow travellers, share stories from the day and enjoy a local drink around the fire pit when seasonal conditions allow. **Accommodation** Choose the accommodation style that suits you best. Our four-share bell tents include comfortable single beds, mattresses and quality linen. Guests wanting a more traditional outdoor experience can also choose to sleep in an Aussie swag beneath the stars. For more privacy, upgrade to your own private bell tent, with shared bathroom facilities nearby. For extra comfort, motel-style rooms with private ensuites are available approximately 100 metres from camp, allowing you to enjoy your own room while still being part of the Camp Groovy atmosphere. Whichever option you choose, you’ll have a comfortable place to rest before another full day exploring Kangaroo Island.

Day 2

**Breakfast** Wake up on Kangaroo Island and enjoy a relaxed breakfast featuring locally sourced produce. Take in the peaceful surroundings, fuel up for the day ahead and get ready for another full day of exploring some of the island’s most iconic locations. **Remarkable Rocks** Our first major stop of the day is one of Kangaroo Island’s most recognisable landmarks, Remarkable Rocks. Perched high above the Southern Ocean, these enormous granite formations have been shaped by wind, rain and sea over millions of years. Wander between the unusual shapes, enjoy incredible coastal views and take plenty of time for photos. It’s an impressive place to begin the day and one of those Kangaroo Island stops that really does live up to its name. **Admirals Arch** From Remarkable Rocks, we continue through Flinders Chase National Park to Admirals Arch. Follow the scenic boardwalk down towards the rugged coastline, stopping at lookout points along the way. At the bottom, the naturally formed rock arch frames the crashing Southern Ocean and creates one of the island’s most dramatic coastal scenes. Keep an eye on the rocks below, where New Zealand fur seals can often be seen resting, swimming and playing in the water. **Picnic Lunch** After a morning exploring the wild western end of Kangaroo Island, it’s time to slow things down and enjoy a catered picnic lunch. Relax, recharge and enjoy some fresh local produce before we continue our journey across the island. **Little Sahara** Next up is one of Kangaroo Island’s most unexpected landscapes, Little Sahara. Surrounded by native bushland, these enormous white sand dunes feel like they belong somewhere completely different. Wander through the dunes, climb to the top for the views or simply enjoy exploring this unusual part of the island. For those looking for something more adventurous, sandboarding and tobogganing are available at your own cost. Race down the dunes or take things at your own pace. Either way, Little Sahara is a fun and memorable stop. **Seal Bay Conservation Park** Our final major wildlife experience is Seal Bay Conservation Park, home to one of the world’s most important populations of endangered Australian sea lions. Join an expert ranger for a guided walk down onto the beach, where you can observe these incredible animals in their natural environment. You may see pups playing in the shallows, adults resting on the sand after days spent feeding at sea, or sea lions making their way between the dunes and the water. Your ranger will share fascinating insights into their behaviour, life cycle and the conservation work being done to protect them. It’s an incredibly special wildlife encounter and a fitting final highlight of our Kangaroo Island adventure. **Return to Penneshaw** After Seal Bay, we begin our journey back across the island towards Penneshaw. Enjoy the changing scenery along the way as we travel back towards the ferry terminal, ready for our evening crossing to the mainland. **Ferry Back to Cape Jervis** Board the ferry for the 45-minute crossing back to Cape Jervis. Settle into a comfortable seat or head outside for one last look across the water as we leave Kangaroo Island behind. **Return to Adelaide** Once back on the mainland, rejoin the bus for the final drive into Adelaide. We return to Adelaide at approximately 9:00pm, where your two-day Kangaroo Island adventure comes to an end. **Please Note** Our guides know Kangaroo Island well and understand that weather, wildlife and local conditions can sometimes change the best way to experience the island. From time to time, we may slightly adjust the itinerary or the order of stops to make the most of the conditions on the day. Our priority is always to give our guests the best possible Kangaroo Island experience.
