Spanish, Volunteer and Adventure

Day 1 Sunday

Transfer from Ezeiza international Airport to Milhouse Avenue. Arrival and briefing and welcome drink.

Day 2 Monday

After breakfast, you will go on a bike tour at 10:30, which lasts around 3 hours. The Meeting Point is at Carlos Pellegrini 1233 (walking distance from the hostel). One of the best ways to get to know Buenos Aires is on a bicycle! A unique experience to appreciate the most typical places of downtown Buenos Aires such as La Boca, San Telmo, Puerto Madero, and more places with the best guides, who will join you on this wonderful tour.

At 16:00, a 2-hour Spanish Lesson with Porteñisima at Milhouse.

Day 3 Tuesday

Volunteer work (from 09:00-17:30).
You must leave the hostel around 07:00 and will arrival back at the hostel around 19:30.
Location: Volunteers will catch Line D of the subway (not included) just a few blocks away from the hostel, get off at Plaza Italia and take the bus 60 “semi-rapido” to Henry Ford, Pacheco, Tigre. When getting off the bus, volunteers will meet the organizer.

The Community Center, located in Tigre, Buenos Aires, helps young people from the surrounding areas learn the craft of gardening and landscaping - framed in agroecology understood as a science, a social movement, and a practice. Volunteers will take part in some of the following activities (according to their experience and level of Spanish), for example:

- Helping in gardening maintenance activities.
- Helping in gardening workshops with children, adolescents or adults (depending on the day).
- Helping in the kitchen area. Preparing healthy meals for the community.
- Helping in the agroecological market (shop business inside the community center open to the neighborhood.)

The coordination team is made up of 9 members who lead the various activities for children, young people and adults.

Day 4 Wednesday

Breakfast and then a 3-hour Walking Tour Recoleta at 10:30. The Meeting Point is at the corner of Libertad and Viamonte, next to the theater Colon.

On this Recoleta Free Walking Tour you will enjoy a walk through the beautiful parks, monuments and palaces of one of the most luxurious areas in Buenos Aires. We will discover the magnificent and opulent Buenos Aires of the beginning of the 1900s starting our walk from the world famous opera house Teatro Colón. We will continue visiting the oldest synagogue in Buenos Aires, Templo Libertad, symbol to the local Jewish community, one of the biggest and most important in the world. We will finish the tour in Palermo so that you can enjoy the rest of the afternoon in this hipster neighborhood, full of chic cafes and boutique shops.

At 16:00, a 2-hour Spanish Lesson with Porteñisima at Milhouse.
You will learn vocabulary, grammatical structures and typical expressions, through games, songs, videos and more. The focus is on enabling you to DO something with the language, learn to communicate and understand what you need; this is the main goal of the teachers Karo and Majo.

Day 5 Thursday

Second day of Volunteer work (from 09:00-17:30).

Day 6 Friday

At 07:15, please make your own way to Colonia Express boat terminal (10-min by taxi - not included) in order to arrive 1 hour before the departure of the 08:30 ferry to Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. The trip lasts around 1 hour. From the boat terminal you can walk to the hotel (10-15 min walk) or take a short-drive taxi (not included).

Trip to Colonia del Sacramento Uruguay:
Colonia faces Buenos Aires across the Río de la Plata river and is known for its cobbled historic quarter, irregular streets, typical lanterns, magical sunsets, and colonial Portuguese and Spanish buildings.

Accommodation is at Royal Hotel in a 6-bed dorm with breakfast included.

Day 7 Saturday

Breakfast, and then return to Buenos Aires on the 18:00 ferry boat (please be at the boat terminal 1 hour before). Back in Buenos Aires at 19:15, and you will have the rest of the evening/night to enjoy in Buenos Aires.

Day 8 Sunday

Breakfast and check out. End of tour. If you have booked 15 days, then your second week will be a repeat of the program but the second weekend you will remain in Buenos Aires with new activities on Wednesday and Friday

Day 9 Monday

10:00 Spanish Lesson at Milhouse. A 2 hour Spanish lesson with Porteñisima at Milhouse.

Day 10 Tuesday

Third day of volunteer work (09:00-17:30)

Day 11 Wednesday

10:00 Spanish Lesson at Milhouse. A 2-hour Spanish Lesson with Porteñisima at Milhouse.

15:00 Graffiti Tour Recoleta. Duration: 2 and half hours
Meeting Point: Plaza Serrano (a.k.a. Plaza Cortazar) in Palermo. Corner of Jorge Luis Borges and Honduras St. One Milhouse staff member will come with you. We will show you the extraordinary history of the city’s vibrant urban art culture. From its fiery political origins to the modern context in which Buenos Aires has become one of the world’s most exciting cities for street art, you’ll get an in-depth view into what makes this fascinating city explode with culture and creativity.

Day 12 Thursday

Fourth day of Volunteer work (09:00-17:30)

Day 13 Friday

Estancia Day: “Fiesta Gaucha”

08:45 am: Pick up. Day trip to a ranch in the outskirts of Buenos Aires (1 hour away) to see Gauchos, cowboy-style festivities, horses, music and dancing. You will enjoy a delicious Argentinian BBQ (vegetarian options too) and great wine. Return around 18:00.

Day 15 Sunday

Breakfast and check out. End of tour for the 2-week tour.

You will be staying at Milhouse Avenue Hostel in Buenos Aires. Accommodation is in a 6-bed dorm with a private bathroom, or alternatively you can choose to stay in a private room.
