Is there a specific “wave season” in Puerto Escondido? Are the waves good for beginners?

There are waves suitable for learning all year round, and the water is almost always very warm. Sometimes big waves come to our home surfspot in May-June. In this case we use our school bus to go to another spot where the waves are not big and it is good for beginners.

Our accommodation location, the Surf Camp, is located in a very popular surfing area called "Punta Zicatela" in Puerto Escondido, on the southern coast of Oaxaca in Mexico, among the great cities of Acapulco and Huatulco. La Punta is a rustic area, famous among travelers and surfers. By public transport you are in downtown Puerto Escondido in about 25 minutes. Just a few meters from your house you can find Mexican restaurants with typical seafood on the beach, food stores, including alternative food and the best hamburgers. This is the location for our surf camp that is especially designed for people who want to learn, practice or just have fun with surf while learning Spanish at the same time.

In order to get to the Surf Camp upon arrival, it is recommended to take a taxi and ask the driver to take you to Surf Camp Experiencia which is located in La Punta Zicatela, on the street called Nuevo Leon, on the corner of Heroes Oaxaquenos. It is very close to the police station. Transfers from the surfcamp to the school with our van are free for the students.

The building has a modern style with wood, lights and a fish pond that offers a relaxed and warm atmosphere. We have 5 floors; downstairs there are 2 standard rooms, 2 dorm rooms, and the reception. The second floor provides 5 rooms divided into two buildings which also includes a shared kitchen with a chiling area. The third room has 3 newly built rooms. The rooms have a unique style for comfort with colorful, fully thermal interiors, and surf culture vibes. This is a perfect place where you can talk with friends in the evenings or just relax. The fourth floor has two more room. One is a double-bed room with terrace and the other one is a twin-bed room. On the fifth floor we have our new Yoga Studio with an amazing sea-vew so you can do yoga in the morning or at the sunset time. Each twin-shared room has two beds, a fan and a private bathroom. If you would like to have a private room, you can book a room just for yourself. Please remember that single rooms are always subject to availability. Dormitories are air-conditioned. It is also possible to book a single private room with air-conditioning.
