That is why we invite you to discover its essence and charm with us. Our course will cover the sounds and icons of the first black tangos in the 1850s, to the most modern expression of Argentina's popular culture and the people's renewed interest in tango in the streets today.

Day 8: El Calafate, Argentina

Get away from the crowds and visit the Perito Moreno glacier on this alternative visit. Walk along the shore of the Lago Argentino to see blue icebergs as they float by and up-close views of the glacier. Take a 1-hour hike in front of the glacier to get spectacular views of the captivating walls of this massive sheet of ice from natural and wild spots, before returning to the touristy areas and seeing it from another angle.

We will depart El Calafate and begin our journey to the glacier on an alternative route, making stops along the way to take photos of the incredible scenery and to see the local flora and fauna. We will also be passing next to one of the most emblematic 'estancia' and some of the biggest estancias of Patagonia. We will make a stop at the hotel of Don Echeverrias, an important 'gaucho' of the region. This hotel has an authentic Patagonian feel. There, you can enjoy some 'mates' or coffee (not included). As we continue our journey towards Los Glaciares National Park, we will begin to notice a change in the scenery, awing at the impressive views around us.
Prepare to be amazed when you see the Perito Moreno glacier growing bigger as we drive closer to the park entrance. This is a unique opportunity to get spectacular views of the glacier from natural and wild spots, away from the crowds. You will have the chance to enjoy the glacier almost by yourself, observing the crisp, cool air and listening to big chunks of ice breaking off and crashing into the water of Lago Argentino. Your guide will be there to answer any questions you may have about the glacier, its formation, its location, its evolution...
Then you can enjoy some free time to walk along the conventional man-made bridges and stairways to admire from a different angle the immensity of this giant sheet of ice towering over you. Take in the wonderful scenery and photograph yourself in front of this majestic glacier. If you would like, you can go buy something at the snack bar before we begin our return trip to El Calafate using the conventional paved road. All the way back, share stories about your experience with your new friends. We will be back in El Calafate around 17:30 pm.

Day 13: Santa Maria Channel, Chile

Start your journey through the Patagonian fjords, navigate through the narrowest part of the route to later sail through the Santa Maria channel.

Puerto Natales , Angostura White * Santa Maria Channel (B/L/D)
Anchor will be weighed at 8:00 AM and we start our journey through the Patagonian fjords, with final destination at the city of Puerto Montt. We enter the Union Sound to navigate through the narrowest part of the route, only 80 m wide, called "White Narrows", to later sail through the Santa Maria channel.

Day 14: Messier Channel, Chile

Continue the trip to reach Puerto Eden. After a short stay in this port, continue the journey towards the north going through the English Narrows before reaching the Messier Channel.

Puerto Eden & Bajo Cotopaxi (B/L/D)
We sail through the Patagonian Channel, Morla Vicuna, Escobar Doxrud Pass, Sobenes Pass (the southernmost of the route), Union Channel, Collingwood Narrows, Farquar Pass, Sarmiento Channel, Guia Narrows, Los Inocentes, Concepcion, and Wide channels, Paso del Abismo, and Paso del Indio to arrive at the town of Puerto Eden (see note), where the last population of native Alacalufes live. Puerto Eden is located on Wellington Island, one of the largest islands in Chile that forms part of  Bernardo O'Higgins National Park.
After a short stay in this port, we continue our journey towards the north going through the English Narrows, a narrow pass that allows the passage of only one ship at a time. We continue through the Messier Channel, where we will see the cargo ship Capitan Leonidas, shipwrecked since the 1970's on a half-sunken islet called "Bajo Cotopaxi". The wreck is currently used as a navigation lighthouse and point of reference for sailors.
Note: Disembarking in Puerto Eden and the trip through the channels is done only if the weather, ocean conditions, and itinerary permit, always at the Captain's discretion.

Day 15: Chonos Archipielago, Chile

At sunset, start the ocean navigation in the area of the Penas Gulf. At dawn, the Captain will assess the weather information received and will decide the most appropriate route to continue the journey (via Pulluche Channel, Ninualac Channel or Boca de Guafo).

Golfo de Penas , Ocean Area & Moraleda Channel (B/L/D)
At sunset we start the ocean navigation in the area of the Penas Gulf, an approximate 12-hour crossing, where it is possible to see humpback, Minke, and blue whales, (depending on the time of year and climate). At dawn, the Captain will assess the weather information received, and with the information on the tidal currents in the channels and the positions of celestial bodies like the moon and the sun, he will decide the most appropriate route to continue the journey with the following options to leave the open Ocean Area:
1. Pulluche Channel / 2. Ninualac Channel / 3. Boca de Guafo
There is also the possibility of accessing other channels depending on the visibility and the traffic of other ships.
If he chooses the Pulluche channel, the most lush in vegetation (Southern Beech and Patagonian cypress forests), with luck, we will see marine birds, sea lions and native dolphins called "Toninas". We enter the Chacabuco Channel, and then sail through the Errazuriz channel, and finally sail through the Moraleda channel, a transit spot for notable sailors and canoeists from the Chonos and Chiloe archipelagos.
If the choice is through the Ninualac channel, we will reach the area around Isla Tuap, later entering the Moraleda Channel.
Finally, if the option is to continue in the open sea through the Boca del Guafo, we will sail amongst the Chonos Archipielago to continue our route towards Puerto Montt.

Day 16: Puerto Montt, Chile

Sail through the Gulf of Corvocado, then through the Apiao Channel, Ancud Gulf and Reloncavi Sound, arriving at Puerto Montt in the morning.
