Meet your guide at your hotel and get ready to explore Jakarta, Indonesia's bustling capital city as a local!
Together with your guide, you will use public transportation options (types depend on your hotel location) to reach Batavia, the old-town of Jakarta, where you will visit Sunda Kelapa (Old Harbour), Fatahillah Museum, and Old Batavia square. A great way to interact with the locals whilst exploring the old heart of former Batavia. Once the sun has set, it is time to explore another local side of Jakarta life: the bustling street food. Together you will head by foot and public transportation to Sabang Street to find local food vendors or “warung” along the way. Here you can try some Indonesian meals such as Lontong Sayur (rice cake with veggies and coconut milk broth), Ketoprak (a veggie dish with a splash of peanut sauce), or Gado-gado (local salad with peanut sauce dressing). Your adventure continues with a visit to the first mall ever built in Indonesia, Sarinah. Slip into the food court area, where you will see plenty of choices, a great place to end your foodie adventure with a local desert. The Sarainah Mall is well known to have regular cultural events, so if you're lucky you may see something additional. After this, it's time to return to your hotel with your guide. Alternatively, experience a bit of Jakarta's nightlife and end with a drink at a rooftop bar nearby to see the city skyline at night. Please note, the rooftop bar is excluded and your guide will not accompany you to the bar. You may walk or take a taxi back to your hotel if you decide to go to the rooftop bar.
