Mount Toubkal Trek 3D/2N

Day 1: Marrakech - Toubkal, Morocco

Transfer from Marrakech to the Berber town of Imlil. From here you will hike towards Sidi Chamharouch, have a picnic lunch break and set off to the Toubkal refuge for dinner and overnight.

Marrakech - Toubkal Refuge (L/D)
After being picked up from your accommodation in Marrakech at around 9:00am, you will be transferred to Myl Brahim Gorges onto the Berber town of Imlil (1,740m). Imlil is situated in the upper foothills of the Western High Atlas Mountains, a natural paradise where trails set out in all directions. From here you will begin an 8km hike towards Sidi Chamharouch, a Berber village beside a waterfall and a small river, a famous place of pilgrimage for devout Muslims who come to see the pre-Islamic shrine located here. After a picnic lunch break overlooking the mighty Jbel Toubkal, North Africa's highest peak, you will set off to the Toubkal refuge, where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 2: Toubkal, Morocco

After an early breakfast, will begin a steep 3-hour hike to reach the summit of Mount Toubkal. After a well deserved picnic, continue with a gentle hike down to Toubkal refuge, for free time in between lunch and dinner.

Mount Toubkal (B/L/D)
After an early breakfast, at around 6:00am you will begin a steep 3-hour hike to reach the summit of Mount Toubkal (4,167m). Although it was almost certainly reached by Berber tribesmen long before recorded ascents began, the first recorded climb was made by two French mountaineers, the Marquis de Segonzac and Louis Gentil in 1923. After a long break, it is time to set off onto the South Cirque, or Ikkhibi Sud, a 2 to 3-hour descent back to the area near the refuge to enjoy a well deserved picnic. Continue with a gentle hike down to Toubkal refuge, where you will enjoy some free time in between lunch and dinner. Overnight.

Day 3: Toubkal - Marrakech, Morocco

After breakfast, take on the north route descent to the villages of Sidi Chamharouch and Aroumd (1,840m). Enjoy a picnic lunch before hiking back down to Imlil where you'll be transferred back to your accommodation in Marrakech.

Toubkal Refuge - Marrakech (B/L)
After breakfast, take on the north route descent, zigzagging trails of the higher slopes of the Assif N'Isougan N'Ouagounss Valley onto the village of Sidi Chamharouch. Just before entering the village your guide will show you a sacred Berber tree on which you find strips of coloured cloth hanging, and stones piled up around its trunk. Take a short break at this point before descending through the Assif Ait Mizane Valley onto the village of Aroumd (1,840m), the centre of one of the most fertile areas of the High Atlas. Be amazed at the many terraces and irrigation canals filled with maize, onion and fruit trees. Here you will enjoy a picnic lunch before continuing your hike down the mule paths for another 4km until arriving at Imlil, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy a refreshing mint tea in the home of your senior guide. From here you will be transferred back to your accommodation in Marrakech, where this amazing trip will come to an end.
