Cabinet War Rooms is the place where the War Cabinet met during World War II, and it also served as the headquarters of the British government. From here, World War II was led—first by Chamberlain and then by Churchill. It was here that Churchill uttered the famous words shortly after being appointed Prime Minister: "This is the room from which I will direct the war."

The Cabinet War Rooms and Churchill Museum are located in underground facilities from which Winston Churchill directed the war. All the equipment used during the war is still there. For example, in "The Map Room", the course of the war was carefully monitored and analyzed by Churchill and his staff. You'll also see the secretaries' workspace. These and many other rooms were abandoned and sealed when the war ended, and time has stood still there since 1945—you’ll see the same maps, books, and pencils that were in use on the war’s final day.

The Churchill Museum, part of the Cabinet War Rooms, is dedicated to telling the story of Winston Churchill. Among other things, you can see his private bedroom.

With an audio guide, you’ll be led through the site, and you can listen to excerpts from Churchill’s famous speeches that were broadcast from right here.
