Backpacker Chisapani and Namobuddha Trek

Day 1: Kathmandu to Chisapani (2165m, Driving time: 1-hour, Trekking Time: 5 – 6 Hours) The journey begins with a short drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal, the starting point of our trek.

From here, we embark on a steep uphill climb, passing through lush forests and scattered settlements. The ascent leads to Chisapani, a peaceful Tamang settlement perched on a ridge, offering stunning views of the Kathmandu Valley on one side and the Langtang and Ganesh Himal ranges on the other. As the day ends, soak in the mesmerizing sunset over the Ganesh Himal and Langtang Himal ranges.

Day 2: Chisapani (2165m) to Nagarkot (2200m, Trekking Time: 7 – 8 Hours)

Start the day with a stunning sunrise over the Himalayas before setting off on the trek. The trail follows a motorway for the first two hours before gradually descending towards Chawki Bhanjyan. The journey continues along the main road, passing through charming hillside villages and terraced farmlands until we arrive at Nagarkot, a popular hilltop destination known for its panoramic mountain views and vibrant sunrise and sunset spots.

Day 3: Nagarkot (2200m) to Dhulikhel (1550m, Trekking Time: 5 – 6 Hours)

Today's trek follows the motorway before descending gradually toward a small rural settlement. Afterward, the trail winds through dense rhododendron and pine forests, providing a refreshing and scenic walk. As we descend further, we reach the historic town of Dhulikhel, rich in culture and tradition, featuring well-preserved temples, artistic wood carvings, a vibrant local market and stunning Himalayan vistas.

Day 4: Dhulikhel (1550m) to Namo Buddha (1750m, Trekking Time: 4 – 5 Hours)

The trek begins with a steep uphill climb along stone staircases leading to a breathtaking viewpoint that offers panoramic mountain views. From here, we descend passing by small local settlements and farmland to Kavre Bhanjyang before continuing with a gradual ascent toward Namo Buddha, a sacred Buddhist pilgrimage.  The journey to the monastery follows serene lanscapes, offering glimpses of rolling hills and scattered settlements. Namo Buddha Monaster is home for more than 250 monks and a revered Buddhist site known for its rich history and spiritual significance.

Day 5:  Explore Monastery and back to Kathmandu (Driving Time: 2 Hours)

Early wake up call to begin the day with a visit to the sacred Monastery gives us an opportunity to witness the morning puja (ritual) in the monastery, with constant beating of drums, blowing of conch shell and long traditional horns is quite an experience.  As we approach the monastery, the tranquil atmosphere soaks us in and all the stairs you climb will be rewarded by a fantastic view of surrounding hills and mountains. After exploring the monastery and soaking in its tranquil atmosphere, we drive to ancient of Bhatapur before concluding our journey with a drive back to Kathmandu. Bhaktapur is one of the three ancient cities within the Kathmandu Valley. It is also known as Bhadgaun, meaning the city of devotees and is the home of true medieval art and architecture in the Valley. Bhaktapur is the center of traditional Nepalese wood carving and is without a doubt the most historically authentic.  Self-explore this beautiful city and drive back to Kathmandu.
